2020 Small, Female and BIPOC Owned Businesses Gift Guide
Happy Small Business Saturday! I wanted to highlight some amazing small businesses, all female owned, and almost half also BIPOC-owned, for your gifting needs this holiday season.
- Good Label Project
Good Label Project was started this year by my friend Jamie. Her mission is to demystify the stereotypical labels society places on women and empower them to choose their own. Jamie’s shop features tons of merch with labels like “Badass,” “Fearless,” and “Strong” on teeshirts, crewnecks, beanies, and more, so you can always rock your good label! - Oh Happy Dani
Danielle Coke is a digital artist who creates art and words that encourage faith, inspire justice, and guide people through loving their neighbor well. You’ve probably seen Dani’s beautiful art on social media, and she is now selling a limited run of apparel with some of her most popular pieces. I picked up the “Hate Doesn’t Live Here” long-sleeve crew for myself, and I am so excited to wear it. - The Sugar Alchemist
The Sugar Alchemist was started by one of my dear friends, Sabine. She makes custom cakes, as well as sells her amazing looking desserts to local restaurants on Long Island where she lives. But she has these delicious handmade jams available on her website to order and they are to die for! - Right Hand Glam
RHG is a social media agency started by my friend Emma, and let me tell you, she is amazing. If you or someone you know is an entrepreneur, business owner, or influencer, you need Emma in your life! She offers a variety of social media solutions for womxn who just don’t have time and I have personally learned so much from her when it comes to social media and how to grow my following and spread my message online! - Alice + Wonder
Alice + Wonder is a Chicago-based boutique but they sell lots of their amazing finds online anywhere in the country 🙂 I am obsessed with their Chicago sweatshirt and beanies and need them in my life! - Lil Bucks
Lil Bucks is a startup that sells sprouted buckwheat and buckwheat clusters. Let me tell you, they are DELICIOUS and if you or someone you love is a smoothie fanatic, you need these. They add the perfect crunch on top of smoothie bowls, in granola or cereal, or just on their own with some nut milk. - Shop Twenty Seven
Twenty Seven is a lifestyle and paper goods company whose mission is to bring sunshine inside – how awesome is that?! Twenty Seven sells art prints, key chains, stationary, cards, and recently came out with their own line of handcrafted tea. - Jessitrak
Jessitrak is a stationary brand empowering creatives through organization. Jessi sells lots of fun stationary that makes me want to get organized, as well as some of the most amazing scented candles. Snag some of her winter scents before they’re all gone! - Cocokind
Cocokind is one of my favorite clean skincare companies and they are doing a huge 20% off sitewide sale this weekend. Cocokind has such quality products at an accessible price point, and if you or someone you love have been wanting to dive into clean beauty, this is a great place to start. - Garden24
Garden24 was founded by writer and activist Morgan Harper Nichols, and they sell wall decor, stationary, apparel, and more. Morgan’s words have helped me through so many moments in my life and an art print would be such a gift to anyone! - Lark Skin Co.
Lark is another clean skin and bath care company that I love. Their products are so luxurious and they have a variety of starter kits for different skin types! They also have a local St. Louis shop and studio that I am dying to check out. - XOmandysue
XOmandysue is a Newport Beach, CA based boutique that I am obsessed with! They have such cute and trendy pieces and I love supporting a female owned business. The owner Lindsay is also SO sweet! - Handpicked Lemons
HPL was founded by Rosie Tran, or you may know her as kaleintheclouds on Instagram. Rosie crafts intentional boxes based on a survey and each box contains upcycled, handmade, or thrifted items. She also recently started selling individual items like intentional sweatshirts and they are adorable! I love HPL because each item is unique to the receiver, instead of random things you might not like with the typical subscription box. - Alex Elle
Alex Elle is a writer and podcast host, and you might be one of her almost 1 million followers on Instagram. Alex’s most recent book, After the Rain, is my current obsession and was on my Self Care gift guide as well! In addition to her books, Alex hosts virtual courses and writing workshops on topics such as self-care and reclaiming resilience. - The Iman Project
The Iman Project is the brand founded by Bree Iman Clarke, but it is so much more than that. Bree is a BOSS and has several businesses, including Lavender & Mint Designs, the farmhouse table company she work on with her husband Carlos; The Little House Project, small event and community spaces in Dallas, TX; and her newest venture, The Plant Project, the first black owned plant shop in Dallas. Bree not only builds the table, she makes sure everyone has a seat, and is known to shake the table when needed!
I hope this list of amazing, empowering, female small businesses has inspired you to shop small not just this holiday season, but year-round. I love supporting womxn living their dreams and am so inspired by all the ladies on this list.
